The Day of the Lord Is at Hand

The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord…” Zeph. 1:14.
In the book of Obadiah, we are told:
“For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.” Ob. 1:15.
Through all time the messengers of God knew everything that was going to pass and they raised their voices in warning to those living of the future danger. God revealed the Flood to the righteous Noah, he made known to Abraham and Lot about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Of his Second Coming, Christ said:
“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” Luke 17:26-30.
As our heavenly Father has always warned the righteous men before any of the more important events would occur, how much more he will do so in the present day!? Through his dear Word, he shall remind all faithful Christians about the Second Coming being at hand. In Luke 21 we are told:

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” Luke 21:35.
The Coming of Christ will surprise the world but not the righteous ones who have been preparing for it.
Everyone may know that the Coming is at hand
Though the day and the hour of the Coming of Christ are hidden, God’s children will know, by the signs appointed by Christ in the gospel, that the great day is near. Today the words of 2 Pet. 3:4 are being fulfilled:
“And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” 2 Pet. 3:4.
The Apostle Paul tells us:
“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” 1 Thess. 5:4-5.
Jesus Christ himself describes clearly the sad state of those who are not waiting for him and know nothing of his day. Matt. 24:48-51. The loving Savior admonishes all to watch diligently for the signs that testify beforehand of the day of the Lord that will suddenly take the world unprepared.
God who is omniscient has entrusted to his faithful messengers a message of the soon coming of Christ and the end of the world. They will have to proclaim to their fellowmen who are fallen just like them of mercy and salvation, while there is still probation. The gospel of the kingdom shall be preached for a witness to all nations and then the end of the world will come. Matt. 24:14.
When this most important work on the part of God’s faithful worshipers is ended, then the time of probation will have closed. And of a truth, God’s gospel workers today are giving a warning through the Three Angels’ Messages (Rev. 14:6-12) to the whole human race. At the same time, just like John the Baptist, they are preparing the way for the Second Coming. It will not be long until the words of Daniel are fulfilled:
“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” Dan. 2:44.
“And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.” Zech. 14:9. See also Rev. 19:16.
Soon the dead shall hear the voice of the great King and the resurrection shall clothe them in incorruption and together with those who remained among the living until the Coming of the Lord, they shall be caught up and transported into heaven.
